Because we liked the all-too-short-lived TV series "Firefly" and the subsequent movie, and because she's a Firefl(ite), we've named the new boat "Serenity."

With the two of us in the boat we achived a top speed of 22 statute MPH according to the GPS. That's plenty fast for me. There was a bit of pounding at that speed -- I don't know if it's normal or means I need to adjust the trim on the motor. I also need to fiddle with the idle adjustment to keep the 40 from loading up at low idle, and with the shift cable adjustment to see whether it's simply not going into reverse gear completely or whether the shift dog is just too worn to keep it in gear.
