The City

Well... in my humble opinion, there's not really much to see in Ann Arbor: There's the University of Michigan campus, which looks much like any other college campus -- granite buildings, trees, kids who look far too young to be in college; there are some nice old buildings downtown, if you're into architecture. Other than that, it's the Midwest. What more needs to be said?

Sights

I do have some pictures from the trip though. Most of them are from the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village in Dearborn. I'm not much into museums, and I am a technophile, so I pretty much ignored the various historical buildings painstakingly dismantled and relocated to Dearborn. After all, everybody has to be born somewhere... who cares if such-and-such historical figure was born in a hospital or a log cabin? As for our forbears' rustic lifestyle... I used to live in South Dakota and take it from me: You seen one privy, you've seen 'em all!

A steam train in Greenfield Village

A turn-of-the-century machine shop...

...and the steam engine that powers it

If you look closely in the full image of the shop, you can make out the lineshaft in the rafters, from which leather belts transfer power to the various machine tools.
