I went with some friends to the Black Rock Desert (a dry lake about 80 miles north of Reno, Nevada) in 1992. Our mission was to watch and participate in the annual LDRS-XI (Large Dangerous Rocket Ships) and BALLS-02 (Big-Ass Load-Lifting Suckers) amateur rocket launches.
