Project #4: The Landscaping

When it came to rehabilitating the yard and landscaping, I had to import undocumented labor from California: These are my parents. (No, they're not midgets: the front hedge really is about 15 feet high.)

This is the arbor vitae out front before...

This is Dad hauling debris. (He spent three days just working on the front hedge.)

...this is the arbor vitae after Dad was finished. There's a regular cat's-cradle of twine inside. My hope is that this will support the bushes until they recover from the snow and wind damage from last winter's storms.

This is me, engaging in chemical warfare against a mole that had the audacity to invade my back lawn. I think that we eventually achieved detente, and she moved on to the neighbors'. [Wishful thinking! See Moles on Parade]

This is a 30-cubic-yard drop box, arriving empty...

This is the drop box leaving. I wouldn't have believed we could fill it if we hadn't done it! According to the bill, we took out 2.51 tons of material. Whew!

Thanks Mom & Dad!!
